I am suppose to talk to you about the swine flu. And to be honest, I am having issues about doing so. Maybe I am completely insane, maybe not. But this pre-pandemic doesn't put the fear of God in me.
In a normal year more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from complications of the flu, and 36,000 people will die from the flu.
And I am suppose to be paranoid about the 50 in the US alone, or the 2,000 in Mexico? (as of this posting)
If I were to get paranoid, I would be more inclined to be questioning the fact that this illness is being covered so heavily. That this is what we are all talking about. That we are fearing this above all else.
But there are legitimate fears about any influenza. And a potential pandemic, or rather epidemic in you region is something that you should always be prepared for. No matter what name it is going by.
You should be prepared for isolation in your own home, food, first aid, and entertainment are critical if this flu or any other's get out of hand. You will find yourself confined to your home and you will need to eat and keep sane. Prep for this like you would a natural disaster or a long winter.

I would say that I am more concerned right now about the government deciding that they need to wipe out pig farms to protect us then I am about this flu. But my thoughts might change later. We just have to wait and see.
